one egg
ricotta cheese
red pepper
1 tsp minced garlic
basil
oregano
Assorted cheeses
Preheat oven to 325 F.
Mix the ricotta, the teaspoon of minced garlic, oregano, basil, red pepper, and egg in a bowl.
Within a deep dish, assemble one layer of ravioli. Place the ricotta mix evenly on top of the first layer.
Place half a jar of sauce on top of the first layer.
Assemble second layer of ravioli. Top with the rest of the sauce.
Place any assortment of cheeses you would like (I chose mozzarella and parmesan).
Cook for 60 minutes. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes.
Serves 4. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 7g dried yeast
- 3/4c warm water
- 1/4tsp salt
- 1tsp caster sugar
- 50ml olive oil
- 2c flour
- Nutella/any sort of filling you want
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions- Add the yeast to warm water (warm it up on the stove for uniformity) along with your salt and sugar
- Make sure it isn’t too hot!
- Cover it with a tea towel and let it sit for 5 minutes until the mixture bubbles
- Add the flour to a separate bowl and make a little hole in the centre
- Add the yeast mixture in the hole and mix it up with a spoon and then your hands
- Drop the dough onto a flour-dusted surface and knead until it’s smooth and elastic
- Place the dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover with a tea towel again and let it sit for about 30m
- The dough should double in size
- Preheat your oven to 440 degrees F and put a piece of parchment paper on your baking tray
- Knead your dough for a bit and then flatten to about 5mm thick with a rolling pin
- Cut the dough into circles using a cookie cutter or whatever
- Drop whatever filling you want and spread it around
- Fold over your dough and pinch it together so it stays shut
- Use a fork on the edges to make it pretty
- Brush the calzones with the beaten egg so it browns nicely
- Bake for 5-7 minutes or until golden
