Per the hammer announce post.
10. In all cases we will slowly remove any areas from the game that have these creatures. There may always be a couple little goblins or demons running around, but their threat will be completely, totally, irrevocably, and permanently removed from Imperian.
So, if demons get taken out, does that mean I lose my "demonic" lamia as an assassin?

At least, hopefully not.

"On the battlefield I am a god. I love war. The steel, the smell, the corpses. I wish there were more. On the first day I drove the Northmen back alone at the ford. Alone! On the second I carried the bridge! Me! Yesterday I climbed the Heroes! I love war! I… I wish it wasn’t over."

the claims are stated - it's the world I've created
You could do an awful lot with the Horde. I can think of a whole mess of interesting ideas to do with them. Warring factions, splinter groups allying with mortal factions over Horde political divisions, all sorts of things.
They've never DONE anything with them like that, but it's all very feasible.

Over time the horde are getting smarter and tougher (almost evolving) where they icewall and and carry battering rams and they have leaders who are firmly entrenched in hte game for a long time. As such that continuity is good and the possibility of them being a more major threat is appealing.
Eventually I'd love to see the horde as a playable race (once they become intelligent enough to make individual choices)
