Message Expiration

TL;DR: We're going to be deleting a bunch of old messages next week. Preserve anything you want to keep.

As you may know, we expire messages in our messaging system after a certain amount of time has passed. At the moment, that cutoff is very, very lenient. Unfortunately, the size of our messaging database is quite a bit larger than it should be. As such, we're going to be bringing our message cutoff date in line with the one stated in HELP MESSAGES: 85 Imperian Months.

This post serves as a warning, so that you can preserve any older messages that which you wish to keep. You can preserve messages using: MSG PRESERVE <#>. Preserved messages will not be deleted despite their age.

Hello!

This is a reminder that tomorrow about this time we'll be beginning the purge of old messages. The

process will be gradual (so as not to introduce lag to the game) and will take about a week to 

complete. Once complete, all messages older than 85 RL days that have not been preserved will be 

deleted, and we will not be able to recover them. This is your last reminder to preserve any 

messages you wish to keep!

Messaging Cleanup is now underway. Other than disappearing messages, you shouldn't notice any ill effects.

Cleanup should take a bit over one day to finish at the current rate.
