Rinrr is one of the easier ones. I felt bad when I forgot his mechanics.
His primary mechanic is that he has a 'charge attack' that is instakill. You avoid this by sit/rolling in the goop. If you're gooed when he tries to insta you, he misses.
Problems:
1) The goop wears off. You must re-goop.
2) You can only goop once. The second time kills you.
Grab the message for gooping and the goop wearing off and you're set.
Do a certain percentage of them go through regardless? I went back through the log and was getting insta'd before I got the goop wore off message. Only time I was killed after seeing it was because I tried to sit/roll while impaled.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is what happens when you remove a funny mechanic and leave it in the hands of NPCs (hilarity ensues) and also what happens when Death is irreverent. I'm sorry, I mean irrelevant.
10:41:43.288 | From Raykel: I'd like to have another go at attempting to disfigure you. Your recently discovered self-entitled personality has lead to me think that you deserve to have your pride taken down two steps.
11:13:54.781 | You say to Raykel, "I'm curious...is this your plan of 'taking my pride down a few steps'? Because to me, this looks really bad...being Harbinger and all."
11:15:04.333 | Raykel grumbles angrily.
11:15:09.207 | Raykel throws down the gauntlet and issues a formal challenge to face him in single combat. ACCEPT RAYKEL in order to do so.
This is what I mean about +1 vs +2 balance being a massive hurdle for 'accessibility'. Raykel (as only Raykel can) is presumably trying to out-dsl you with a 2.40 dsl. He's in Athletic with a 231 sabre but there's absolutely -no- way he can beat your affliction cure rate :unless: he uses vivisect. This is not my idea of accessible.
(Before anyone goes jabbing fingers, throwing mocking laughter and pulling up pictures of a certain wolf, let me clarify. Raykel is using my system, which while isn't perfect, can beat normal cures with a 2.35 dsl. Yes vivisect is an whoa-unstoppable mechanic. Ok.)
It is still my opinion that a +1 bal should have a marginal chance at beating a passive cure affliction, and while slowing down the passive cure tick is one way to do it, I believe that making the bonus bands tighter, I.e. 0.93 for +1 and 0.865 for +2 would mean better predictability and less silly affliction builds (like what-up 1.60 twinshot)
Deathknight is in a weird spot. I would almost call DK balanced. I'd also say that Templar and Runeguard are broken. Templar and Runeguard are mechanically better classes and definitely more up to date. Vivisect is and always will hold the class back from any sort of upgrade because it's such an effective instakill. You could probably vivisect with an 8s dsl.. With feint-slash and terrible limb damage, it's not a matter of if but when. Raykel didn't stand a chance even if they had the same balance time if he wasn't going to vivisect. Enter mirroring (dumbest) and emblazon (dumb). Anything that 'boosts' deathknight's affliction ability for any type of cure is going to make vivisect easier and the admin and the classlead zerg are going to piss and moan about it.
I'm not a huge fan of the DK affliction build, tbh. It's a snore fest of spamming the same afflictions until things stick. You're sacrificing being good at a lot of other things to be the speediest paralysis knight in the land. Spam maidenhair into spam kelp. Profit. If you want to 1v1, there are stronger 1v1 affliction classes. If you want to solo in DK and not be fast, you're going to need to figure out how to vivisect or learn to afflict incredibly well. Going fast-aff in DK is really denying yourself a lot of versatility and team support that DK brings to the table.
Actually, with DK's affliction rate, you can't just spam maidenhair and spam kelp to get ahead in afflictions. And against professions with passive curing, it's just not possible.
Yeah I can literally skip 2 dsls as Fast as long as I have hemotoxin + (metrazol/asthma) + any other 2 toxins and go right back into it. Definitely can't do that as Athletic. Doesn't hurt me, just game accessibility.
Also, the notion that speeding up Deathknights affliction rate will make affliction vivisects or limb vivisects more powerful is just false. In order to get an affliction vivisect, you'd have to achieve a softlock first and at the point of attaining a softlock you can either go for an affliction vivisect (2 dsls then vivi), damage with a claymore (most likely just 2 dsls), or an disembowel (assuming deaf, double opium for prone then impale/battlecry into dsb). Vivisect doesn't really become any more powerful than any other option available and it's more about flavor at that point. If we're talking about limb damage vivisects, the afflictions you use on the way to breaking limbs matters very little as you won't be achieving any affliction headway at all dealing with parrying and feinting. The only thing that matters is the toxins you use on the break, which affliction rates do not affect.
For fun, here is a video of me attempting Vivisect against Raykel, someone who is parrying occasionally. Now this is not the best vivisect set up, as at one point I made a miscount and had to restart and on one of the other attempts, rebounding slowed me down enough for Raykel to heal (Raykel is using the autocuring priority that best handles Vivisect).

Yeah, no. Go in the corner and think about what you just said.
What leads to soft lock? - Afflictions
What does increasing the rate of afflictions do? -More afflictions faster.
What does this do the time of soft-lock set up? -Reduces it.
If you reduce time for soft lock, what does it do with vivisect set up? -Reduces the setup time. GIVING AFFLICTIONS FASTER MAKES SOFT LOCKS FASTER WHICH LETS YOU VIVISECT FASTER
Also, you don't -need- a soft lock. You're just obsessed with 'locking'. This is why we can't have nice things.
You two missed the point but I probably didn't clarify it well enough. Giving Deathknights either an affliction or damage upgrade would not increase the viability of vivisect over disembowel or damage as a kill method, the latter two being available to Runeguard and Templar both of which have gained upgrades to afflictions and damage.
